Your health in midlife is about more than menopause
Midlife can be a turning point in women's health. For some women, it's when symptoms of perimenopause or menopause begin. For others, it's when changes in weight, body composition, sleep, energy or physical capability become more noticeable.
It's also a valuable time to look further ahead.
How healthy are you today?
What is most likely to affect your health in the years ahead?
What can you do now to stay healthy, strong and capable for longer?
Women’s Future Health takes a broader view of midlife health — bringing together prevention, medical assessment and objective measures of your physical health to identify what actually deserves your attention.
Midlife is an opportunity
Healthcare often focuses on treating problems once they appear. Preventive healthcare asks a different question:
What can we do now to protect the health you'll want later?
Through midlife and beyond, several areas become increasingly important to consider, including:
Cardiovascular health
Metabolic health
Muscle and strength
Bone health
Body composition
Physical capability
Appropriate cancer screening and prevention
Nutrition and physical activity
Sleep and other relevant lifestyle factors
Menopause and hormonal health where relevant
That doesn't mean every area needs treatment or optimisation. The aim is to understand your individual health, identify the things most likely to matter, and focus your effort where it can make a meaningful difference.
Menopause matters.
But it isn't the whole story.
Perimenopause and menopause can have a significant impact on symptoms, quality of life and some aspects of longer-term health. For women with troublesome symptoms, appropriate assessment and treatment — including consideration of menopausal hormone therapy — can be important.
But not every change in midlife is caused by hormones.
And good midlife healthcare shouldn't stop at menopause.
Your cardiovascular health, metabolic health, muscle, bone, body composition and physical capability all deserve consideration in their own right.

What do you want your health to allow you to do?
Preventive health becomes more meaningful when we stop thinking only about disease risk and start thinking about capability.
In 10, 20 or 30 years, what do you want to still be able to do?
Travel independently?
Run, cycle, swim or play sport?
Hike?
Get down onto the floor and back up easily?
Carry your luggage?
Play with grandchildren?
Continue working or doing the activities you love?
Remain strong, mobile and independent?
Those goals matter because they help us decide what deserves attention today. The goal isn't simply to live longer. It's to protect the health and physical capability that allow you to keep living well.
From information to a plan
Once your investigations are complete, you'll return for your Future Health Results & Plan consultation.
We won't simply work through a long list of results. We'll bring everything together to answer:
What did we find?
What actually matters?
What can we change?
What are the next three priorities?
You'll leave with a personalised Future Health Roadmap that identifies what deserves action, what should be monitored, and what is already strong.
