Men’s
Future Health
You service your car. Review your investments. When did you last properly assess your health?
Many of the factors that influence future cardiovascular, metabolic, bone and physical health develop gradually — often long before they affect how you feel day to day.
Future Health is a doctor-led preventive health assessment designed to help you understand where your health is today, what is most likely to matter in the years ahead, and what you can do about it now.
The aim isn't to find something wrong. It's to identify what deserves your attention — and what doesn't.
Know where you stand
Most of us have plenty of numbers available to us. Weight. Steps. Heart rate. Sleep scores. Fitness data. Blood-test results.
But individual numbers rarely tell you what actually matters for your health.
Future Health brings together your medical history and risk factors with objective measures of your body composition, bone health and physical capability.
We then use that information to decide whether any further investigation is worthwhile.
The result is not simply more health data.
It's knowing what to do with it.
What do you want to still be doing in 10, 20 or 30 years?
Preventive health isn't only about reducing the risk of disease. It's also about protecting your ability to keep doing the things that matter to you.
That might mean:
Playing golf or tennis
Running, cycling, surfing or swimming
Travelling
Working
Lifting and carrying without difficulty
Keeping up with your children or grandchildren
Maintaining strength and mobility
Living independently
Or simply continuing to do the things you enjoy without your health becoming the limiting factor.
These goals matter because healthspan and physical capability are built over time. Understanding your starting point gives you the opportunity to act while you still have something worth protecting.
What should we be paying attention to?
There is no single test that tells us whether someone is “healthy”.
Depending on your individual situation, important areas may include:
Cardiovascular health
Understanding relevant risk factors such as blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose regulation, smoking, family history and other factors where appropriate.
Metabolic health
Looking beyond weight alone to consider body composition, visceral fat and relevant metabolic risk factors.
Muscle and strength
Muscle mass, strength and power become increasingly important to physical capability as we age. Knowing your baseline can help identify what is already strong and where improvement may be worthwhile.
Bone health
Bone health matters to men too. DEXA allows us to assess bone mineral density alongside body composition rather than assuming bone health is adequate because there are no symptoms.
Physical capability
Strength, power, balance, mobility and movement provide information about what your body can actually do — not simply how it looks or what you weigh.
Prevention and screening
Your age, medical history, family history and individual risk factors help determine which preventive healthcare and screening measures are relevant to you.
The aim isn't to optimise every category.
It's to identify your priorities.
A comprehensive starting point
Your Future Health Assessment
Before your appointment, you'll complete a detailed health questionnaire covering your current health, medical and family history, lifestyle and future health goals.
You'll then complete two objective assessments.
Your body
DEXA body composition and bone density
DEXA provides objective information about:
Muscle and lean mass
Body fat and its distribution
Visceral fat
Regional body composition
Bone mineral density
This gives us considerably more useful information about your body composition than body weight or BMI alone.
Your physical capability
Preventive Health Physical Assessment at PMQ Health
You'll complete an objective assessment using VALD performance technology and HumanTrak movement assessment.
Depending on your assessment, this provides information about areas such as:
Strength
Power
Balance
Mobility
Functional movement
Physical capability
We're not looking for perfect scores. We're establishing where you are now, identifying meaningful opportunities for improvement and creating useful baseline measurements for the future.
Your medical assessment
40-minute telehealth consultation with Dr Kate
Once your initial assessments are complete, we'll bring everything together. We'll consider your:
Medical and family history
Current health
Lifestyle
Goals
DEXA results
Physical assessment
and relevant existing medical information.
Then we'll answer the questions that actually matter:
What is already going well?
What deserves our attention?
What can realistically be changed?
Is there anything else worth investigating?
You'll leave with a personalised investigation plan where appropriate.

More testing isn’t always better.
It's easy to assume that better preventive healthcare means doing more tests. I don't think it does.
Following your assessment, we may decide that additional information would be useful. Depending on your individual health and risk factors, this may include:
Blood tests
VO₂ max / cardiorespiratory fitness testing
Additional medical investigations where clinically appropriate
But there is no standard panel of advanced tests that everyone needs.
Every additional test should answer a useful question.
If a result isn't likely to change what we do, collecting more data isn't necessarily useful.
Private pathology, VO₂ max and other additional investigations are optional where appropriate and are booked and paid for separately.
From results to action
Once you've completed the investigations that are relevant to you, we'll meet again for a 40-minute telehealth consultation.
This isn't simply a review of every number on your results. We'll integrate your medical assessment, body composition, bone health, physical capability and investigation results to answer four questions:
What did we find?
What actually matters?
What can we change?
What are the next three priorities?
You'll leave with a personalised Future Health Roadmap — a clear plan for what to act on, what to monitor and what is already strong.
Future Health Results & Plan — $240 | 40 minutes | Telehealth
Your plan won't look like everyone else's
Depending on what your assessment identifies, your priorities may involve areas such as exercise, nutrition, cardiovascular or metabolic risk factors, body composition, medical treatment, appropriate screening or further investigation.
But you won't leave with a list of 20 things to improve. Good preventive medicine requires prioritisation.
We'll focus on the things most likely to make a meaningful difference to your health.
And if something is already going well, the plan may simply be to maintain it.

You don't need to wait until something is wrong
Preventive health is most useful when there is still plenty worth protecting.
The goal is not perfect health. It's to understand where you are, identify the things that genuinely matter, and make sensible decisions now that help protect your health and physical capability for the future.
Stay strong. Stay capable. Protect your future health.
