Approximate Cost: Included in the Future Health Assessment
What is it?
KardiaMobile 6L is a portable, medical-grade six-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) that records your heart's electrical activity in approximately 30 seconds. Unlike consumer smartwatches, it provides a diagnostic-quality ECG that can identify common heart rhythm abnormalities and is approved for clinical use.
What does it measure?
-
Sinus rhythm
Atrial fibrillation (AF)
Bradycardia
Tachycardia
Selected rhythm abnormalities
-
Six-lead ECG tracing
Heart rate
Rhythm regularity
Conduction abnormalities (where identifiable)
Why is it important?
Many heart rhythm disorders cause few or no symptoms but significantly increase the risk of stroke, heart failure and other cardiovascular complications.
Early identification allows timely investigation and treatment.
Atrial fibrillation is particularly important because it increases stroke risk by approximately five-fold and is frequently asymptomatic.
Who may benefit?
Recommended for:
Adults over 40 years
Patients with palpitations
Irregular pulse
Family history of atrial fibrillation
Hypertension
Cardiovascular risk factors
Previous stroke or TIA
Endurance athletes
What happens during the test?
Simply place your fingers onto the electrodes and briefly touch the lower electrode to your left leg or knee to obtain a six-lead ECG.
The recording takes approximately 30 seconds.
Preparation
No preparation is required.
Remain seated and relaxed during recording.
Advantages
Medical-grade ECG
Quick and non-invasive
Highly accurate AF screening
Portable
Immediate results
Excellent for intermittent symptoms
Limitations
A normal ECG does not exclude intermittent rhythm abnormalities.
Does not replace specialist cardiac investigations where indicated.
How Future Health uses this investigation
KardiaMobile complements:
Blood pressure assessment
Fitbit heart rate monitoring
VO₂max assessment
Cardiovascular blood biomarkers
to provide a more complete assessment of cardiovascular health.
Future Health Summary
Heart rhythm abnormalities often develop silently. KardiaMobile provides a simple, evidence-based way to identify clinically important rhythm disorders before they cause complications.
